Hard Reset and Factory Reset of Motorola Moto M

Before you try the factory reset or hard reset on your device, make sure that you have backup your important files. Restoring the default settings or factory reset your device will delete all your existing files and will go back to its initial state.


Factory Reset:

>>> On your Home screen, touch Apps.

>>> Go to Settings > Privacy.

>>> Tap on Factory Data Reset.

>>> Then tap Reset phone.

>>> And select Erase everything to confirm the reset.


Warning: All downloaded apps and user data on your phone will be deleted. Data on the cloud will not be deleted.


Hard Reset:

>>> Press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down.

>>> Release the keys when your phone shows the boot mode menu,

>>> Press the Volume Down to scroll and highlight Recovery.

>>> Use Volume Up to select it.

>>> You will see a Motorola logo then the Android Recovery screen.

>>> Press and hold the Volume up key for 10-15 seconds.

>>> Quickly tap and release the Power key.

>>> The Android recovery screen will appear.

>>> Press Volume down to select "wipe data/factory reset" and press the Power key to select it. Now press Volume down to highlight Yes and press power to select it.

>>> Finally, when the device finishes it will have "reboot system now" selected. Just press power to select that option.
